Swiftwater/Flood Rescue Training
On Saturday, July 14 about a dozen members of Boistfort Fire participated in live training for Swiftwater/Flood Rescues on Smith Creek near Pe Ell. Battalion Chief John Wilkins and his partner from Sea-Tac Fire Department, Shane Skladany, led the training and trained the members in the practical portion of the drill. At the conclusion of the training, members were considered trained at the Awareness/Operations Level, able to perform shore-based rescues with the assistance of Technician level rescuers (those entering the water to retrieve victims). Considering the rivers in our district and the potential for flood events, your Fire Department has shown their commitment to increasing their skills to help protect our citizens. Be sure to thank them!
